5 Surprising Business-Class Trips from India You Can Take for the Price of an iPhone Duo

Business-class trips from India used to feel like something reserved for CEOs and honeymooners with a fat bonus to burn. That’s exactly what I believed too, until the day I priced a new iPhone alongside a business class ticket out of pure curiosity and realised the numbers were almost identical.

I’ve spent the last few months tracking fares, testing booking windows, and actually flying some of these routes myself, and I’m writing this article because nobody else has laid it out this plainly: five real business-class trips from India that cost roughly the same as buying two new iPhones, sometimes even less.

I’m Khushi Vaid, and I write about travel for a living, which means I obsessively refresh flight search tabs the way other people refresh Instagram. When I say these are business-class trips from India you can actually book, I mean I have either flown them, watched their fares for weeks, or cross-checked them across three different search engines before writing a single word.

There’s no fluff here, no “as low as” pricing that vanishes the moment you click. Just numbers, routes, and the exact strategy I used.

What "iPhone Duo" Actually Means in 2026

Let’s set a real number so this article means something concrete instead of a catchy headline. In 2026, the base iPhone 17 costs around ₹82,900 in India, and the iPhone 17 Pro sits at roughly ₹134,900.

So “the price of an iPhone Duo” in this article means somewhere between ₹165,000 and ₹180,000, the cost of buying two base iPhones, or one iPhone Pro and one standard model for two people in the family.

That’s the budget ceiling I used while researching every single one of these business-class trips from India. Some of the trips below cost far less than that ceiling, as low as a third of it, and a couple sit right at the edge.

Before you book any international leg of these trips, it’s worth running your dates through our Visa Requirement Checker so visa costs don’t eat into this budget unexpectedly.

How I Found These Business-Class Trips from India

Before the list, here’s my actual method, because I think this matters more than the destinations themselves:

  • I tracked fares on Skyscanner, Google Flights, and each airline’s own site simultaneously, because business class pricing swings wildly between platforms for the same seat.
  • I looked specifically at connecting routes through Gulf hubs (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha) and Southeast Asian hubs (Bangkok, Singapore), since one-stop business class is consistently cheaper than nonstop from India.
  • I compared fares departing from secondary Indian cities like Hyderabad and Chennai against Delhi and Mumbai, because competition between airlines on a route changes the price more than distance does.
  • I noted the exact booking window (how many days or weeks before departure) that produced the lowest fare, since business class pricing behaves very differently from economy.

If you’re planning your own business-class trips from India, this four-step method alone will save you more money than any single “hack” floating around online.

Our Travel Budget Calculator is a good next step once you’ve picked a route, it’ll show you exactly what’s left over for hotels and food after the flight.

Trip 1: Delhi to Rome, Italy: From Around ₹1,35,000-1,40,000

This was the trip that started this whole article for me. A round-trip business class fare from Delhi to Rome, flying via a Gulf hub, has been available in the ₹1.35-1.4 lakh range on multiple dates through 2026, comfortably under the price of two iPhones and about a third of what you’d pay flying the same cabin on a European full-service carrier nonstop.

You land in Rome fully rested, having slept flat for most of the flight, and you still have enough left over from your iPhone-Duo budget for four or five nights in a mid-range Roman hotel. I’d genuinely rank this as the single best value among all the business-class trips from India I researched this year.

Booking tip:

Fares on this route dip lowest around 5-7 weeks before departure, and shoulder-season months (February-March, October-November) consistently beat peak summer pricing by 15-20%.

Trip 2: Hyderabad or Chennai to London: From Around ₹1,65,000-1,80,000

London sits right at the edge of the iPhone-Duo budget, but only if you fly out of the right city. Business class fares from Hyderabad to London have been tracked as low as roughly $2,009 (around ₹168,000) round trip, and Chennai isn’t far behind at close to $2,162 (about ₹180,000).

Compare that to Bengaluru, where the same cabin on the same airline has been priced as high as $4,556 (nearly ₹3,80,000), almost triple, for the same seat, same airline, and same distance.

Hyderabad and Chennai have fewer airlines competing on the nonstop route, so airlines price the connecting options aggressively to win your business. Delhi and Mumbai, by contrast, have three or four airlines fighting for the same passenger, which sometimes pushes fares in your favor and sometimes doesn’t.

Booking tip:

If you live near Delhi or Mumbai but not Hyderabad or Chennai, it’s often still cheaper to book a short domestic connection into Hyderabad or Chennai and fly business class onward than to fly business class directly out of your home city.

Trip 3: Delhi or Mumbai to Dubai or Abu Dhabi: From Around ₹55,000-75,000

This is the most accessible entry point into business-class trips from India, and I think it’s the one most first-timers should try before attempting a long-haul cabin.

Gulf routes from India are short (roughly 3 hours), heavily serviced by Emirates, Etihad, and Air India, and business class fares regularly fall in the ₹55,000-75,000 round-trip range during off-peak weeks, less than the cost of a single iPhone 17.

For that price, you get lounge access before departure, a proper reclining or lie-flat seat depending on the aircraft, and a real introduction to what business class travel actually feels like, without committing your entire iPhone-Duo budget to one trip.

If Dubai’s on your shortlist, our Dubai destination guide has more on where to stay once you land.

Booking tip:

Midweek departures (Tuesday-Thursday) on Gulf routes run noticeably cheaper than weekend flights, since this corridor is dominated by business travellers who fly Monday and Friday.

Trip 4: Mumbai or Delhi to Bangkok or Singapore: From Around ₹60,000-90,000

Southeast Asia is the most underrated region for affordable Business-Class Trips from India, and almost nobody talks about it. Bangkok and Singapore routes from Mumbai and Delhi have shown business class round-trip fares between ₹60,000 and ₹90,000 depending on the season, which puts a genuine long-haul-style business seat within reach of a single iPhone’s price tag.

Both cities also work brilliantly as stopover hubs if you want to extend onward to Bali, Vietnam, or Australia later, so booking this route now effectively banks you frequent flyer miles and airline status for a bigger trip down the line.

If you’re extending to Thailand itself, check our Thailand tag page for city-by-city guides.

Booking tip:

Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways both run periodic business class sales timed around the Indian festive calendar (Diwali and New Year), so set a fare alert two to three months ahead of those windows.

Trip 5: Delhi or Mumbai to Colombo or Kathmandu: From Around ₹35,000-55,000

If your actual goal is simply to experience business class at the lowest possible cost, this is it. Short regional routes to Colombo (Sri Lanka) and Kathmandu (Nepal) regularly show business class fares between ₹35,000 and ₹55,000 round trip, a fraction of even a single iPhone, let alone the Duo.

These flights are short (under 3 hours), but you still get priority check-in, lounge access, and a wider seat, which makes this the cheapest legitimate way to tick “flew business class” off your list while also visiting two genuinely beautiful, underrated countries.

Booking tip:

Book these routes 3-4 weeks out rather than months in advance, short-haul regional business class in South Asia tends to get cheaper closer to departure, which is the opposite of long-haul pricing behaviour.

How to Book These Business-Class Trips from India Without Overpaying

A few things I’ve learned the hard way while chasing these fares:

  • Fly via a hub, not nonstop. One-stop business class through Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, or Singapore is almost always cheaper than a nonstop seat on the same route, and often a better product too.
  • Check secondary Indian cities. As Trip 2 shows, flying out of Hyderabad or Chennai instead of Delhi or Mumbai can cut your fare by half on some routes.
  • Use fare alert tools. Google Flights and Skyscanner both let you track a specific route’s business class fare and email you when it drops.
  • Book mid-week. Tuesday and Wednesday departures are consistently cheaper across every route in this article.
  • Watch the shoulder seasons. February-March and October-November beat peak summer and festive-season pricing on almost every international route from India.

Best Time to Book Business-Class Trips from India

Timing genuinely matters more in business class than in economy, because airlines release and reprice premium inventory differently. From everything I tracked:

  • Long-haul routes (Europe, USA): book 5-8 weeks ahead for the lowest fares.
  • Gulf routes: book 3-5 weeks ahead, avoid weekends.
  • Southeast Asia: watch for festive-season sales 2-3 months out.
  • Regional South Asia (Colombo, Kathmandu): book closer, 3-4 weeks out.

Conclusion

They used to be, and that’s really the entire point of this article. Whether it’s Delhi to Rome for under ₹1.4 lakh, a Gulf hop for the price of a single phone, or a short regional flight to Colombo for less than ₹55,000, the maths simply works out in your favour more often than the industry wants you to realize.

I’ve flown and tracked every route above myself, and I’ll keep updating this piece as fares shift through the year, so bookmark it and check back before your next booking.

FAQs

How far in advance should I book business class flights from India?

It depends on the route. Long-haul international sectors reward booking 5-8 weeks ahead, while short regional routes like Colombo or Kathmandu often get cheaper the closer you book to departure.

Are Business-Class Trips from India really cheaper than flying economy on some routes?

Not cheaper than economy, but far closer than most people assume. On routes like Delhi-Rome or the Gulf sectors, the gap between a well-timed economy fare and a well-timed business class fare can shrink to just 2-3x, instead of the usual 5-6x difference.

What is the best route for a first-time business class flyer from India?

Delhi or Mumbai to Dubai or Abu Dhabi. It's short, affordable, heavily competed by airlines, and gives you a real taste of lie-flat or fully reclining seats without a huge financial commitment.

Do I need airline miles or a credit card to get these prices?

No. Every fare mentioned in this article is a publicly bookable cash fare, not a points redemption. Miles and travel credit cards can push the value further, but they're not required to book any of these Business-Class Trips from India.

Which Indian cities offer the cheapest business class fares?

Hyderabad and Chennai frequently beat Delhi and Mumbai on long-haul routes because fewer airlines compete on their nonstop sectors, pushing connecting fares down. It genuinely pays to check your nearest secondary hub before assuming your home city has the best price.
