Must-Try New Restaurants in Mumbai in 2026: Incredible Dining Spots Everyone Is Raving About

Must-try new restaurants in Mumbai are basically a full-time job to keep track of if you live here. That’s the thing about this city, the list changes almost every single month. One weekend I’m hunting for a table at a 25-seat supper club in Bandra, and by the next month there’s a new pan-Asian sushi spot, a courtyard cocktail bar, or a bakery three lanes away that everyone’s suddenly talking about.

I spent the last few weeks actually eating my way through the city’s newest openings, from South Mumbai to the far western suburbs, so you don’t have to scroll through fifteen Instagram reels to figure out where to go this weekend.

This is a real, area-wise guide to the best new restaurants in Mumbai right now, based on what’s actually opened and worth your time in 2026.

Why Mumbai's Restaurant Scene Is Exploding Right Now

Here’s some context before we get into the list. Mumbai isn’t just adding a restaurant here and there, the city is opening new dining spots at a genuinely staggering pace. March 2026 alone saw 25 new restaurant, café, and bar openings across Bandra, Andheri, Juhu, Goregaon, and South Mumbai.

April 2026 added another 20 spots, stretching from Nariman Point and Fort to Kala Ghoda and Juhu.

By June, the wave hadn’t slowed down at all, with fresh openings across Colaba, Bandra, BKC, Andheri, and Kandivali.

What’s driving this? A few things I’ve noticed while eating around the city this year:

  • Micro-neighborhood dining is booming. Instead of everyone flocking to one “hot street,” openings are now spread across Khar, Vile Parle, Goregaon, and even Kandivali.
  • Concept restaurants are winning over generic multi-cuisine menus. Think hyper-specific ideas, a Japanese-Italian fusion menu, a courtyard bar serving half-pours, a supper club that changes its entire menu monthly.
  • Global cuisines are getting hyper-local twists. Chuka (Japanese-Chinese) and Itameshi (Japanese-Italian) menus, French-inspired steakhouse formats, and South Indian filter-coffee-first cafés are all part of the same wave.

Must-Try New Restaurants in South Mumbai

South Mumbai doesn’t get as many headline-grabbing openings as Bandra, but the ones it does get tend to be worth the drive.

Conçu, Colaba: A newer entrant in Colaba’s dining lanes, Conçu has quickly become a spot locals are recommending for a relaxed evening out, tucked into one of South Mumbai’s most walkable food pockets.

Varsoo, Chowpatty: If you’re near Chowpatty and want something beyond the usual beach-side bhelpuri stalls (which, don’t get me wrong, I still love), Varsoo is one of the newer names worth checking out.

If you’re building a South Mumbai food trail, I’d genuinely recommend pairing it with a weekend trip itinerary since most of these spots are easy half-day outings if you’re already exploring the area.

New Restaurants in Bandra 2026: The Epicentre of Mumbai's Food Scene

Let’s be honest, if you’re searching for new restaurants in Bandra in 2026, this is probably the section you scrolled straight to. Bandra continues to be the neighborhood with the highest concentration of exciting openings, and 2026 has been no exception.

Gong, Bandra: This is easily one of my favorite openings this year. Gong brings a pan-Asian menu built around sushi, think toro nigiri, hamachi jalapeño rolls, and scallop dynamite, but what makes it stand out is how it blends Chuka (Japanese-Chinese) and Itameshi (Japanese-Italian) influences.

You’ll find udon carbonara and waffle pizza sitting on the same menu as dan dan udon and sake duck yakimashita. The cocktail list leans into Asian ingredients like yuzu, kaffir lime, and shiitake, which honestly makes it worth a visit on its own.

The Find Atelier, Bandra: A 25-seat supper club set inside a restored 140-year-old building, run by sisters Aalisha Sable (chef) and Riona Sable (creative director).

It’s open weekends only, and the cuisine-agnostic menu changes every single month; I’ve seen everything from a Hokkaido bun to a Coorg pepper madeleine on it. If you want a genuinely intimate, non-touristy dining experience in Bandra, book this one early.

Cutting Cocktails, Bandra: Mumbai’s newest speakeasy-style bar, inspired by the classic cutting chai culture. It’s a 35-seater courtyard bar where drinks come in half-pours at half the price, so you can actually try more of the menu in one visit.

Other names to watch in the area: Papi, Punchline, Breve, Book Bar, and in Khar, 66 Chuim, all part of the same June 2026 wave of openings.

Best New Restaurants in BKC and Lower Parel

If you’re closer to the business district, there’s finally a reason to stay for dinner instead of rushing home:

La Taqueria, Jio World Plaza (BKC): Mexican food inside one of BKC’s newest retail-and-dining destinations. Great option if you’re already at Jio World Plaza and want something beyond the usual mall food court.

Coconut Grove, BKC: A newer addition bringing South Indian and coastal flavors to the business district crowd.

Veronica’s, Lower Parel: One of the newer names in Lower Parel’s dining lineup, worth adding to your list if you work in the area and are tired of the same three lunch spots.

New Restaurants in Andheri, Goregaon & the Western Suburbs

This is where I think Mumbai’s dining scene is getting genuinely interesting, because the western suburbs used to be an afterthought, not anymore.

Rumbabaa and Lucente, Andheri: Two of the newer openings adding variety to Andheri’s growing food hub status.

TwentySeven Bakehouse and Benne Bros, Goregaon: If you’re a bakery person (I am, unapologetically), TwentySeven Bakehouse is worth the trip on its own.

Sage, Puli & Podi, and Tsubaki Artisanal Coffee, Kandivali: Kandivali rarely used to feature on “where to eat in Mumbai” lists, but 2026 has genuinely changed that. Puli & Podi in particular is bringing South Indian flavors with a modern, café-style presentation.

Patio 57, Vile Parle: A newer spot adding to Vile Parle’s slowly growing café culture.

If you’re planning a full day around these suburbs, it’s worth checking our family travel or friends travel guides for other things to combine with your food trail in the same area.

The Big-Ticket Openings Everyone's Still Talking About

Beyond the monthly wave of new cafés and bars, a couple of larger openings have genuinely reshaped how Mumbai eats out.

Indian Accent, NMACC: Chef Manish Mehrotra’s Delhi original has been a fixture on the World’s 50 Best list for years, and the Mumbai outpost at NMACC reworked the menu specifically for the Mumbaikar palate. If you want a special-occasion, tasting-menu-style meal, this is still one of the most talked-about tables in the city.

Rameshwaram Cafe, Mumbai: After years of people flying to Bengaluru just to try the benne dosa, Rameshwaram Cafe has finally landed in Mumbai, and from what I’ve seen, the queues have followed it here too.

How to Plan Your Own Mumbai Food Trail

A few things I’ve learned doing this over the last few months:

  • Book ahead for supper clubs and small-format restaurants. Places like The Find Atelier have limited seats and fill up fast on weekends.
  • Visit new openings within their first 2-3 months if you want to catch launch specials; most restaurants roll back their introductory menus after the initial buzz settles.
  • Cluster your visits by neighborhood. Bandra alone had 7+ new openings in June 2026, so you can realistically plan an entire evening: dinner at Gong, cocktails at Cutting Cocktails, dessert at Book Bar, without moving more than a kilometre.
  • Budget it out before you go. If you’re combining a food trail with a longer weekend in the city, our Travel Budget Calculator can help you plan costs beyond just the meals.

Conclusion

After exploring Mumbai’s newest restaurants, one thing has become very clear to me—this city never stops reinventing its food scene. Just when I think I’ve discovered all the must-visit dining spots, another exciting café, rooftop restaurant, or chef-driven concept opens its doors.

What I personally enjoy most is the incredible variety. On one weekend, I can start my day with a traditional South Indian breakfast in Kandivali, enjoy handcrafted Japanese sushi in Bandra for lunch, sip creative cocktails at a hidden speakeasy by evening, and finish the night with indulgent desserts at one of the city’s newest cafés.

I also believe these new restaurants are doing much more than serving good food. Many are focusing on beautiful interiors, locally sourced ingredients, sustainable dining practices, live entertainment, and memorable customer experiences.

If you’re someone who enjoys discovering new places before they become the next big trend, I highly recommend adding these restaurants to your list. Whether you’re planning a romantic dinner, a family celebration, a weekend brunch, or simply looking for your next favorite café, Mumbai has plenty of exciting new openings waiting to be explored.

I’ll continue updating this guide throughout 2026 as more restaurants launch across the city, so be sure to bookmark this page and check back before planning your next food adventure.

FAQs

Is it worth visiting a new restaurant in its first few weeks?

Yes, usually, many new spots run limited-time launch menus and introductory offers in their first two to three months, which is often the best time to try a wider range of dishes at a lower price point.

What are the most talked-about new restaurants in Mumbai in 2026?

Right now, Gong and The Find Atelier in Bandra, La Taqueria in BKC, and the Mumbai outpost of Indian Accent at NMACC are among the most talked-about openings of the year, alongside Rameshwaram Cafe's much-awaited Mumbai launch.

Which Mumbai neighbourhood has the most new restaurant openings in 2026?

Bandra continues to lead by a wide margin, with multiple new cafés, bars, and restaurants launching there every single month, followed closely by Andheri and the BKC business district.

Are new restaurants in Mumbai expensive?

It varies widely. Casual cafés and bakeries in the suburbs (Goregaon, Kandivali, Andheri) are generally wallet-friendly, while supper clubs, tasting-menu restaurants, and BKC/South Mumbai openings tend to be on the pricier side.

How do I find out about new restaurant openings in Mumbai every month?

Following local food accounts and monthly round-up guides (like this one) is the easiest way most restaurants don't get major press coverage until well after they've opened, so hyperlocal food blogs are usually faster than mainstream media.
